How you are charged for calls, data and texts

Call Charges

Calls with Pay As You Go, Pay Monthly, Sure Indie and Smart Plans are charged per minute for the first minute, then per second after the first minute. So if you make a 10 second call, you will be charged for 1 minute of use, but if you make a call 1 minute and 10 seconds long you will be charged for the exact amount of seconds that you made the call for.

Text Charges

A text message constitutes as a SMS up to 160 characters long. Text are charged per 160 characters used, so if you send a text that is 180 characters long, you will be charged for two text messages.

Local Data

Data is charged when your mobile uses the internet. It does so by making a data call each time your phone uses the mobile internet automatically, e.g. receiving an email, or when you choose to use the internet by browsing or downloading something. Outside of any free allowance when on the Sure network, data is charged on a per data call basis and per 100KB. There is a minimum charge of 100KB so if you were to visit a web page for example that only used 80KB of data and you exited your browser or your phone or ceased the data call, you will still be charged 100KB.

Data Abroad

Roaming data is charged in the same way as local data above, however the cost can be very expensive. If your phone is set to automatically use the internet, you may want to turn off data roaming when you are abroad to avoid expensive charges.
